China is cementing its role as the most superlative-creating nation by dropping a whopping $39 million on the world's longest and tallest glass-bottom bridge, which they say is inspired by James Cameron's film, "Avatar."

The bridge, the latest in a series of gravity defying glass-bottom bridges in China, will be suspended across the Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon in Hunan. The national park in which the bridge is being built claims to have been the inspiration behind planet Pandora in "Avatar."

Connecting two massive cliffs, the bridge will be 1,411 feet long and 984 feet above the ground.

Construction is underway, and officials say the it will be open to tourists in January 2016.
